Cellnex Telecom has extended its energy resilience partnership with Telefónica in Spain.
Building on the initial phase which deployed new battery systems across more than 2,000 sites, the expanded contract scales the footprint to cover up to 3,800 sites.
Once the second deployment concludes, every site will have a baseline of two hours of operational autonomy during power disruptions.
With regulations tightening across Europe, active discussions are already underway with MNOs to adapt and export this energy resilience model to other operating markets.
