Nokia Wins Landmark 5G Deal with Telecom Italia
Nokia has secured a major three-year agreement with Telecom Italia (TIM) to expand and modernize TIM’s 5G network across Italy, following a competitive tender process.
Under the agreement, Nokia will deploy equipment from its industry-leading, AI-ready 5G AirScale portfolio to improve network coverage and capacity, extending high-speed connectivity to new regions. The rollout will support TIM’s efforts to bridge the digital divide by delivering fast broadband services to smaller towns and rural areas, while also accelerating the digital transformation of Italian enterprises.
The partnership also aligns closely with TIM’s sustainability goals. Nokia’s energy-efficient radio and baseband solutions—powered by its ReefShark System-on-Chip technology—will reduce energy consumption while delivering high performance, scalability, and reliability.
Key deployments include Massive MIMO radios, multi-band remote radio heads, and next-generation 4G/5G baseband capacity cards.
