Telefónica Deutschland implements 4,500 network expansion projects H1 2026
Telefónica Deutschland has significantly accelerated its network deployment strategy, completing approximately 4,500 expansion projects nationwide in the first half of 2026—a 25% increase compared to the same period last year.
This capital investment shifts focus from broad coverage to precision capacity, building high-density infrastructure where digital demand directly impacts commercial and consumer activity.
The addition of over 500 new mobile sites targets key transport routes and underserved commercial zones. New infrastructure along major transit lines in locations like Kirchhundem, Bramsche, Flossenbürg, and Mühlental.
To address localized data spikes, Telefónica Deutschland scaled its existing site capacity upgrades by more than 33% year-over-year.
Over 2,500 capacity extensions and 1,300 dedicated 5G upgrades were deployed in high-footfall locations—such as city centers, trade fairgrounds, logistics hubs, and recreational zones.
With basic coverage reaching nearly 100% of the German population and 5G available to 99%, the focus shifts from coverage to capacity focused investment.
