Telia Extends Ericsson RAN Partnership Across the Nordics and Baltics
Telia has extended its long-standing Radio Access Network (RAN) partnership with Ericsson in a new four-year agreement covering Sweden, Norway, Lithuania, and Estonia.
The renewed collaboration will enhance network speed, capacity, and coverage while introducing advanced capabilities designed to future-proof Telia’s mobile infrastructure.
Built on Ericsson’s latest RAN technology, the upgraded networks will support innovation and efficiency across industries such as manufacturing and logistics, while advancing Telia’s autonomous networks strategy. Business- and mission-critical users—including public safety, defense, healthcare, transportation, and utilities—will also benefit from improved performance and resilience.
The partnership builds on a strong track record in Sweden, where Telia has delivered the country’s top-rated mobile network for five consecutive years.
In parallel, Telia and Ericsson are evaluating the modernization of Sweden’s rail communications, replacing legacy GSM-R systems with the 5G-based Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS), aimed at improving safety, efficiency, sustainability, and automation across Europe.
Telia’s 5G network now reaches 99.9% of the Swedish population, with work already underway to extend high-quality 5G coverage along all major train routes by 2030.
