Virgin Media O2 invests in AI network operations
Virgin Media O2 is accelerating its shift toward more autonomous network operations by deploying new AI-driven monitoring tools across its mobile network.
Building on two years of experience using similar technology in its fixed broadband network, the operator says AI has already delivered strong results — reducing repair times by more than a third and cutting the need for engineer visits by 12%.
Virgin Media O2 believes this will improve reliability during periods of high demand and enable operational decisions to be made before customers are impacted.
The technology will be deployed across key parts of the network, including radio access, core systems, and network operations.
Overall, Virgin Media O2’s strategy reflects a broader industry move toward smarter, more resilient, and increasingly self-optimising telecom networks.
