2degrees and One NZ propose JV to form RANCo in New Zealand
2degrees and One NZ have proposed a joint venture (JV) to combine their radio access networks (RAN) into an independent RANCo.
The proposed JV will own, manage, and operate the companies’ radio access networks, including the antennas and base stations installed on cell towers.
Each company will retain ownership and control of the parts of its network that enable differentiation, including spectrum management rights, core networks, fibre backhaul, and satellite integrations.
The plans are intended to support more efficient and cost-effective investment in network infrastructure, coverage, and capacity across New Zealand.
The JV is expected to be completed in the first half of next year, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals.
